Hands-on program facilitates e-commerce purchases

e-try.com features interactive simulations for products on the Internet

Scottsdale, Arizona - June 30, 1999 - For the first time, prospective buyers can take a "test drive" of complex products or services on the Internet without ever leaving the comfort of their keyboard.

"Our interactive program bridges the e-commerce gap between researching and purchasing a product," said e-try.com’s CEO, Rich Madarasz, "With e-try.com, prospects can experience complex products that they normally would not purchase over the Internet.

"People learn most effectively through actual experience, whether it is driving a car, playing a sport, or doing their jobs," Madarasz added. "The e-try.com concept extends this experience to e-commerce, by giving consumers virtual hands-on experience with current and future products. Ultimately, the more a customer can experience a product first hand, the more likely they are to purchase the product."

To facilitate this experience, e-try.com announces the introduction of the innovative "Showroom of the Internet" web site. This unique site features realistic, interactive simulations for a variety of products and services, including semiconductor manufacturing equipment, industrial equipment, medical equipment and services. Customers are able to take a product for a virtual "test drive" using their own PC, experiencing its features first-hand. This enhances e-commerce by enabling on-line product trials, resulting in a more informed consumer.

For manufacturers, e-try.com provides a unique medium for increasing marketing effectiveness and enhancing advertising by providing a virtual showroom, where the function, operation, and use of their products can be demonstrated. The e-try concept of interactive simulation engages potential customers as active participants in the marketing of a company’s product. Compared to more traditional marketing, the potential customer spends more time with the product, understands it better, and remembers it longer.

The company plans to expand e-try.com to become the Internet focal point for customers to obtain product information before purchase, and product support after the sale.

Loren Worthington, Vice President for PipeLine Technologies, Inc., says "We selected e-try.com to develop an interactive demonstration that offers our customers immediate understanding of our product’s capabilities. We feel that this provides us with a competitive advantage in our market place."

Another example is FMS Mobile Networking’s (FMS) industry-leading Galileo System for automatic vehicle location.

"The simulation of the Galileo System, on the e-try.com site, benefits our customers by offering them the capability to fully understand all of Galileo’s features and abilities, in the comfort of their office," said Todd Davis, FMS VP of Sales and Marketing. "This is accomplished while reducing both our sales cost and our sales cycle time."

Currently the e-try.com site has simulations for a number of industrial, semiconductor manufacturing and networking products. With products based on proprietary technology, e-try.com is an Internet software development company founded in 1997. The e-try concept is based on the founders’ more than 30 years of experience in developing software products that help people understand and use technology.
